Position Summary Certes Networks is seeking a hands-on Accounting & Finance Manager to own the company's day-to-day accounting and financial operations. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working in a lean environment, is comfortable performing both management-level and hands-on work, and can independently run the accounting cycle while supporting purchasing, inventory and routine business operations. The position will work closely with the company's CFO and external audit and tax advisors. Responsibilities Own the monthly close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations and review of the general ledger. Record and maintain accurate accounting transactions and supporting documentation. Prepare the monthly financial reporting package and supporting schedules for CFO review and analysis. Review sales invoices and support accurate revenue and billing processes. Create and administer vendor purchase orders and coordinate purchasing requirements with the manufacturing/operations team. Coordinate inventory accounting, inventory records and demand/purchasing requirements with the company's manufacturing/operations team. Calculate sales commissions and provide approved commission amounts for payroll processing. Prepare gross-margin reporting and supporting analysis for CFO review. Prepare audit schedules and the annual audit support package; handle routine communications and requests from external auditors. Prepare tax reporting schedules and coordinate routine information requests with the company's external tax advisors. Prepare the first pass of the annual budget and supporting schedules based on historical results and management inputs; support ongoing forecast updates. Prepare ad hoc financial schedules and analyses as requested by the CFO and management. Review and approve standard sales orders within established policies and approval levels; escalate non-standard orders to the CFO. Enter sales orders into the ERP system if the function is retained within Finance rather than Sales Operations. Manage routine AP/vendor payment processes and cash/bank reconciliations in accordance with established approval levels. Provide light oversight and coordination to the company's small manufacturing/operations team, which operates largely independently. Maintain strong financial controls, organized documentation and clear procedures for recurring accounting and operational processes. Preferred Skill Requirements Approximately 5-8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field preferred. Strong understanding of GAAP, month-end close, account reconciliations and financial reporting. Experience independently managing core accounting processes in a small or mid-sized company strongly preferred. Comfort performing hands-on transactional work as well as reviewing and analyzing financial information. Strong Excel and financial systems/ERP skills. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities with limited supervision. Ability to work cross-functionally with Sales Operations, manufacturing/operations, HR and executive leadership. Additional Experience That Would Be a Plus Technology, cybersecurity, hardware/software, inventory or manufacturing accounting experience. Experience supporting audits, budgeting/forecasting, commission calculations and purchasing processes. Position This is a part-time hybrid position in the Pittsburgh area, expected to require approximately 20-24 hours per week initially and will include a combination of in-office and remote work. Compensation will be commensurate with experience, and the successful candidate will work closely with company leadership during the transition period. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take broad ownership of the company's accounting and financial operations.
