- August 2026 POSITION SUMMARY The Accounting Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the accounting department.
This position plays a vital role in the month-end close, including the preparation and review of journal entries and account reconciliations, and is accountable for the timely filing of quarterly payroll tax returns and monthly sales and use tax returns. In addition to hands-on accounting work, the Accounting Manager supervises and develops the accounting staff, maintains and strengthens internal controls, serves as a key resource for our Columbian accounting team, and leads or supports special projects as assigned by the Controller or CFO/Administrator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are representative of the position. Other duties may be assigned as business needs require. General ledger and Journal Entries Prepare, review, and post recurring, accrual, allocation, and adjusting journal entries in accordance with GAAP. Maintain accurate and complete supporting documentation for all entries, ensuring an auditable trail. Review journal entries prepared by accounting staff for accuracy, proper account coding, and appropriate approval. Manage the month-end and year-end close calendar to ensure the books are closed accurately and on schedule. Account Reconciliations Prepare monthly reconciliations for all cash and payroll accounts Research, document, and clear reconciling differences, escalating unusual or material items to the Controller or CFO/Administrator. Payroll Tax Reporting Prepare, review, and file quarterly payroll tax reports, including Forms 941 and TWC. Sales and Use Tax Prepare and file monthly sales and use tax returns accurately and by all applicable due dates. Supervision and Staff Development Oversee the daily work of the accounting staff, including assigning tasks, setting priorities, and monitoring workload and deadlines. Review the work of accounting staff for accuracy and completeness and provide timely, constructive feedback. Promote a collaborative, service-oriented environment and encourage cross-training and process ownership within the team.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position directly supervises the accounting team at both Hill Regional Hospital and Crescent Regional Hospital as well as collaborating with our Columbian accounting team. The Accounting Manager carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policy and applicable law, including planning and assigning work, reviewing performance, training employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. Three or more years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle month-end close and account reconciliation. One (1) or more years of experience supervising, leading, or reviewing the work of other accounting staff. Working knowledge of
U.S. GAAP.
Demonstrated experience preparing and filing payroll tax returns and sales and use tax returns. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and large data sets. Preferred Hospital accounting experience. Multi-entity, multi-location, or multi-state filing experience.

Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to accuracy. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced close cycle. Sound analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to research and resolve discrepancies independently. Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain accounting matters to non-accounting personnel. Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and hold accountable a small team. High degree of integrity and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Ownership mindset with a willingness to take on new responsibilities and special assignments.

Work is performed in a professional office environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, and scanners. Frequently required to communicate verbally and in writing, and to read detailed financial information on a screen and in print.
