Position Overview Step into an instrumental role with an established wealth management practice. We are seeking a Financial Planning and Investment Specialist to support our advisors in delivering exceptional financial planning, investment management, and client service experiences. This position combines financial planning analysis, investment research, portfolio implementation, trading, and ongoing client support. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and passionate about helping clients achieve their financial goals through thoughtful planning and disciplined investment management. The Financial Planning and Investment Specialist will work closely with advisors to develop financial planning recommendations, research investment solutions, implement portfolio changes, and support key client relationships. While this role is primarily an internal technical and analytical position, the successful candidate will occasionally participate in client meetings and help explain complex financial planning and investment concepts to high-net-worth clients. This is an in-office, full-time position within an independent advisor franchisee of Ameriprise Financial Services, LLC. Primary Responsibilities Financial Planning & Analysis Prepare preliminary financial planning recommendations for advisor review. Develop retirement, investment, risk management, and cash flow planning analyses. Gather, organize, and analyze client financial data. Utilize financial planning software, including MoneyGuidePro, Wealth Studios and other planning tools. Assist advisors in developing planning strategies aligned with clients' goals, risk tolerance, and time horizons. Investment Research & Portfolio Management Support Research mutual funds, ETFs, managed accounts, annuities, and other investment solutions. Assist advisors in evaluating investment managers, portfolio strategies, and asset allocation models. Develop investment recommendations for advisor review and approval. Monitor client portfolios and identify opportunities for rebalancing, risk management, and portfolio improvements. Stay informed regarding market developments, investment products, and industry trends. Trading & Investment Implementation Execute trades and transactions as directed by licensed advisors. Implement purchases, sales, exchanges, and transfers involving equities, mutual funds, ETFs, managed accounts, annuities, insurance products, and other investment vehicles. Perform account rebalances and portfolio updates. Ensure all transactions are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with firm and regulatory requirements. Utilize investment and research platforms including Morningstar, Thomson ONE, and proprietary advisor tools. Compliance & Operational Support Prepare and maintain required compliance documentation. Monitor accounts for guideline exceptions, investment restrictions, and required updates. Assist with documentation related to planning recommendations and investment implementation. Client & Advisor Support Participate in select client meetings to support advisors in presenting complex planning and investment concepts. Serve as a technical resource for advisors and team members. Contribute to a collaborative team environment focused on delivering an outstanding client experience. Qualifications Required Minimum 2 years of experience in financial planning, wealth management, investment research, trading, or a related field. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Ability to learn new technology and software platforms quickly. Licensing Requirements The following licenses are strongly preferred upon hire and must be obtained within 120 days of employment if not already held: Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam FINRA Series 7 FINRA Series 66 (or equivalent combination of Series 63 and 65) Ohio Life and Health Insurance License Education Bachelor's degree preferred but not required. High school diploma or equivalent required. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a financial planning, wealth management, broker-dealer, RIA, or investment advisory environment. Experience using financial planning software such as MoneyGuidePro Experience using Morningstar, Thomson ONE, and related investment research tools. Professional designations or progress toward professional designations such as: CFP®, CFA®, APMA®, ChFC®, or other relevant industry designations.
