Job Description

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is seekng a Fraud Analyst for a financial services organization in North Orange County, CA. This is a Hybrid position (2 days on-site). Monday
  • Friday
  • 8am•5pm Pay range: $28•$32 per hour
DOE POSITION SUMMARY
The Fraud Analyst is responsible for identifying, analyzing, investigating, and mitigating fraud risks across the organization. This role utilizes fraud detection systems, transaction monitoring, internal/external referrals, and industry resources to detect suspicious activity, minimize losses, support regulatory compliance, and manage fraud cases through resolution.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Monitor and analyze fraud alerts, account activity, and transactions to identify suspicious or fraudulent activity. Perform real-time and near-real-time monitoring of ATM, Debit, and Credit Card transactions and take appropriate action, including card restrictions, closure, or replacement. Review ACH origination activity, assess risk, and determine whether transactions should be approved or rejected. Investigate suspected fraud, conduct due diligence, and recommend appropriate risk-based actions; escalate complex cases as needed. Support Regulation E and credit card dispute/claim processes, including claim entry and reimbursement/credit processing. Communicate with members and internal departments regarding fraud-related matters, procedures, and resolutions. Identify and report internal control deficiencies to management. Maintain knowledge of applicable banking regulations and requirements, including UCC, Reg. CC, Reg. E, NACHA, and BSA/AML. Stay current on fraud trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks related to payment and card activities. Participate in departmental projects, process improvements, and procedure development.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required. 1-2 years of financial services, fraud prevention, investigations, or related experience; or two years as a Member Account Protection Analyst I. Financial services and customer service experience preferred. Strong analytical, investigative, problem-solving, communication, and follow-up skills. Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and work independently. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to learn and effectively use banking, fraud monitoring, and case management systems.
