Seattle Metropolitan Area, WA About the job Position Summary The Commercial Underwriter will be responsible for evaluating, analyzing, and underwriting small to mid-sized commercial property and casualty accounts. The role combines technical underwriting expertise with agent and broker relationship management, field inspections, and business development activities throughout Washington and Oregon. Key Responsibilities Evaluate and underwrite admitted and non-admitted commercial property and casualty risks by analyzing submissions, determining appropriate coverage terms, and establishing adequate premium levels Develop and maintain strong relationships with independent agents and brokers through ongoing marketing and promotion of Homer's products and services Perform basic on-site risk inspections Collaborate effectively with underwriting, operations, and management teams Maintain a high level of service and responsiveness to agents, brokers, and carrier partners Monthly travel throughout Washington and Oregon to support business development and underwriting activities Qualifications Current Washington State Resident Surplus Line Broker License required Minimum 5 years of commercial property and casualty underwriting experience with an insurance carrier, or managing general agency Strong analytical and decision-making skills Excellent written and verbal communication abilities Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage priorities
