Job Description

Mortgage Loan Closer / Funder Sun American Mortgage | Corporate Office | 4140 E. Mesa, AZ 85206 Join the Corporate Office Team at Sun American Mortgage Sun American Mortgage is seeking an exceptional Mortgage Loan Closer / Funder to join our corporate office team in Mesa, Arizona. Since 1986, we have served customers with exceptional expertise, personal care, and a commitment to doing the right thing. We are a mortgage banker—not a broker—and that distinction matters. It reflects the stability, accountability, resources, and team support behind every loan we close. This is not an entry-level operations role. We are looking for a proven mortgage professional with a strong résumé, deep closing and funding expertise, and a consistent record of delivering clean, compliant, on-time loans. If you are known for precision, sound judgment, proactive communication, and protecting the details that make a closing successful, this is an opportunity to bring your talent to a team where great work is recognized and relied upon. At Sun American Mortgage, we believe the closing and funding function is where exceptional preparation becomes an exceptional borrower experience. You are the final line of operational confidence before funds are released and files move forward for delivery. Your expertise, discipline, and sense of ownership will help ensure our borrowers, loan officers, referral partners, and investors can depend on every loan being handled with care. What You'll Do As a Mortgage Loan Closer / Funder, you will take meaningful ownership of approved residential loan files through final document review, funding readiness, post-closing review, and investor delivery preparation. Your work will help ensure every loan is accurate, complete, compliant, and ready to close with confidence. Perform a detailed final review of approved residential loan files to confirm completeness, accuracy, and readiness for funding. Verify that required closing documents, disclosures, signatures, notarizations, and conditions have been properly executed, received, and documented. Review closing packages against company policies, agency and investor requirements, and applicable regulatory standards. Identify documentation gaps, discrepancies, exceptions, and timing concerns early; drive prompt, thoughtful resolution while protecting closing dates and funding timelines. Confirm that funding conditions have been satisfied in accordance with company procedures before a loan is released for funding. Work closely with loan officers, underwriting, closing, secondary marketing, operations, title and escrow partners, and other internal or external stakeholders to keep transactions moving smoothly. Review funded loan files for post-closing completeness, accuracy, and audit readiness. Prepare, organize, and maintain loan files for investor delivery, ensuring documentation is complete, properly indexed, and easy to review. Maintain accurate loan-file notes, milestones, and data in the loan origination system and related document-management tools. Meet established turnaround times, productivity expectations, and quality standards without compromising accuracy, compliance, or service. Protect confidential borrower and company information and perform all responsibilities in accordance with company policies, privacy requirements, investor guidelines, and applicable regulations. Who We're Looking For The ideal candidate is an experienced, highly organized mortgage closing, funding, or post-closing professional who thrives in a high-performance environment. You take personal pride in clean, audit-ready files, communicate with confidence, and understand that operational excellence is essential to an outstanding borrower experience. You have substantial recent experience in residential mortgage closing, funding, post-closing, processing, or a closely related mortgage-operations role, ideally in a mortgage-banking, lender, or high-volume retail environment. You have a demonstrated understanding of residential loan documentation, closing packages, funding conditions, and post-closing requirements. You are familiar with conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA loan products, as well as agency, investor, and program requirements. You can confidently review a file for accuracy and completeness, recognize documentation discrepancies, and move exceptions toward resolution with appropriate urgency. You are skilled at managing multiple time-sensitive files and deadlines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail. You are proficient with mortgage loan origination and document-management systems; experience with Vesta is preferred, and strong Microsoft Office skills are highly valued. You bring excellent written and verbal communication skills and can collaborate effectively with a wide range of internal teams and third-party partners. You are a calm, solutions-oriented professional who takes ownership, follows through, and treats borrowers and partners with genuine respect. You want to be part of a team that holds a high standard, values expertise, and believes every loan deserves to be closed the right way. The Sun American Difference Our culture is more than a statement on the wall. It is how we serve our customers and one another every day. At Sun American Mortgage, we lead with a high level of care and communication. We seek to understand before we react. We learn, train, improve, and take responsibility. We never blame. You will be surrounded by professionals who value strong execution, celebrate team wins, and understand the impact a skilled closer and funder has on every borrower's experience. Our corporate office is a place for someone who wants to do meaningful work at a high level, contribute to a winning team, and build a long-term career with an established mortgage banker. What We Offer Compensation Hourly rate: $25.00-$35.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
Closing bonus:
$10.00-$12.00 per closed loan, based on experience and qualifications. Sun American Mortgage also offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan. You will have the opportunity to grow your career with a company that has spent more than four decades earning the trust of customers and referral partners. Ready to Make an Impact? If you are an accomplished Mortgage Loan Closer, Funder, or Post-Closer with the experience, judgment, urgency, and service mindset to excel in a high-accountability corporate-office environment, we would like to meet you. Please submit your résumé and a brief note describing the types of mortgage loans you have closed, funded, or reviewed most often. Sun American Mortgage is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome all qualified applicants to apply. 1 How many years of recent residential mortgage closing, funding, or post-closing experience do you have? 2 Which mortgage products have you worked with most frequently (Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, or other)? 3 Which loan origination systems have you used, including Vesta if applicable? 4 Describe your experience reviewing loan packages for funding readiness, closing conditions, or post-closing completeness. 5 What is the approximate file volume or daily/weekly funding pace you have successfully managed? 6 Are you able to work from our corporate office at 4140 E.
