Job Description

Who we are: We are a small administrative office handling over 600 employees throughout California.
Who we are looking for:
We are searching for a great manager who has a proven skillset. This key role oversees both the accounting department and payroll department, which consists of two employees.

Key Responsibilities Manage cash flow and perform full reconciliation of all company accounts. • Direct exempt employee payroll while ensuring absolute accuracy for nonexempt hours, Paid Sick Leave (PSL), and multiple pay rates. Manage semi-monthly payroll audits to guarantee 100% compliance with FLSA, FICA, and state, federal, and local tax laws. Oversee payroll tax reporting, quarter-end filings, and all year-end close activities, including comprehensive W-2 processing. Handle month-end close processes, prepare monthly financial statements for the CEO, and execute fiscal year-end closing. Act as the primary point of contact for external CPAs during financial reporting and annual audit preparation. Review current workflows to build operational efficiencies, strengthen internal controls, and protect sensitive data. Maintain expert, up-to-date knowledge of evolving federal, state, and local labor and employment compliance laws. Required Qualifications & Experience Minimum 5 years of experience managing exempt and nonexempt payroll, with experience handling a distributed workforce. Minimum 3 years of experience managing payroll tax reporting, including FUTA/SUTA and
W-2/1099
compliance. Strong, working knowledge of California wage and hour laws and strict compliance standards. Proven experience in account auditing, account reconciliation, and financial reporting. Experience operating ADP Workforce Now (or similar payroll systems); experience working with a PEO is a strong plus. Fully bilingual in English and Spanish. Advanced Technical & Excel Skills High proficiency in importing/exporting data between systems using CSV and XLS reports. Ability to work with complex formulas for both payroll and accounting reports. Strong capability in reviewing, manipulating, and analyzing large datasets. This is an onsite, full-time, salaried position reporting directly to the CEO/Owner. Background check, including credit check and drug test. Pay is commensurate to experience. Benefits include base exempt salary, year-end bonus potential, vacation, medical/dental/vision 100% paid for employee and 401k.
Pay:
$90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
