The Manager of Payroll and Benefits partners with HR leadership on the strategy, execution, and compliance of payroll processing and benefits administration for CRH Healthcare's multi-site, multi-brand workforce. This role is responsible for accurate and timely payroll, competitive and compliant benefit programs, and reliable workforce reporting. In this role, you will partner with HR leadership, Finance, and external vendors. The Manager of Payroll and Benefits is a key driver of process improvement, vendor management, and regulatory compliance.
What You Will Do:
Payroll Management Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for all CRH Healthcare locations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws. Manage payroll system configuration, updates, and testing in partnership with HRIS representatives. Maintain payroll records in the HRIS system including earnings, deductions, garnishments and adjustments. Manage year-end payroll activities including W-2 processing, taxable benefits, reconciliations, and related compliance reporting. Serve as the primary escalation point for complex payroll issues and discrepancies. Partner with Finance on payroll-related budgeting, accruals, and audits. Ensure timely and accurate processing of new hires, terminations, and status changes impacting pay. Benefits Administration & Strategy Lead the administration and day-to-day operations of benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and voluntary benefits. Manage the annual open enrollment process, including supporting vendor negotiations, HRIS plan adjustments, and employee communications. Own relationships with benefits brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators to ensure competitive, cost-effective offerings. Oversee benefits invoice reconciliation, COBRA administration, and leave-related benefits continuation. Evaluate benefit utilization and market trends to recommend plan design changes. Administer the company's 401(k) retirement plan, including enrollment, contribution changes, vendor and recordkeeper management, and annual compliance testing. Leave, Workers' Compensation & ADA Administration Oversee administration of employee leave programs, including FMLA, short-term and long-term disability (STD/LTD), and personal leave, ensuring accurate tracking and timely, compliant processing. Manage the workers' compensation program, including claims intake, carrier coordination, and return-to-work planning. Lead the ADA interactive process, coordinating reasonable accommodation requests and required documentation with HR, managers, and legal counsel as needed. Serve as the subject-matter expert on leave, workers' compensation, and ADA matters, advising HR and operational leaders on complex cases. Compliance & Reporting Ensure payroll and benefits practices comply with applicable regulations, including FLSA, ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, and ADA. Prepare and file required compliance reporting, including ACA reporting, Form 5500 filings, and nondiscrimination testing. Maintain accurate payroll and benefits records and lead responses to internal and external audits. Lead process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy across payroll and benefits operations. Develop and maintain payroll SOPs, documentations and internal controls. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Primarily an onsite role based in the Vinings, GA office. Occasional travel to CRH clinic locations will be required. Extended periods of sitting and computer use. Key Skills & Requirements Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; equivalent experience considered. Minimum of 5 years of progressive payroll and benefits experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or management role. Deep knowledge of multi-state payroll processing, tax compliance, and benefits program administration. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) preferred. Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local wage and hour, ERISA, ACA, and COBRA regulations. Advanced proficiency with HRIS and payroll platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Proven ability to manage vendor relationships, lead a team, and maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive employee and financial data. Deadline focused, anticipates issues and implements solutions before they impact employees. Experience administering leave of absence, workers' compensation, and ADA accommodation programs. High level of accuracy and strong proficiency with Excel, data validation, and analysis.
