full-time HR & Payroll Manager LHH is partnering with our client to identify an HR & Payroll Manager. This role is responsible for the day-to-day administration and execution of core human resources and payroll operations, including payroll processing, leave administration, benefits, 401(k) administration, HRIS management, employee records, compliance, recruitment support, and employee support. This role partners closely with the HR Director and serves as a trusted resource to employees and supervisors across the organization. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities independently. They take ownership of processes from start to finish, proactively identify issues and opportunities for improvement, and provide responsive, thoughtful support to employees and leaders. This position is primarily remote and will begin as a temporary contract assignment. Compensation will range from $29-$42 per hour , depending on experience. Key Responsibilities Payroll Management & Administration Own the bi-weekly payroll process with oversight from the HR Director. Review and process timecards, employee changes, deductions, taxes, and other payroll-related information. Conduct payroll audits, reconciliations, and quality control checks to ensure accuracy and compliance. Research and resolve payroll issues promptly, partnering with internal and external stakeholders as needed. Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation. Leave Administration Administer employee leave programs, including FMLA, disability, and applicable federal, state, and local leave requirements. Coordinate leave requests, documentation, eligibility, tracking, and return-to-work processes. Partner with employees, supervisors, benefits providers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and consistent leave administration. Maintain accurate and confidential leave records. 401(k) Administration Partner with the organization's 401(k) Third Party Administrator (TPA) to support day-to-day plan administration. Manage employee contributions, loans, changes, reconciliations, and related payroll activities. Respond to employee questions and coordinate with internal and external partners to resolve issues. Support the accurate and timely processing of retirement plan-related transactions and documentation. HRIS & Employee Records Maintain accurate employee, payroll, and HR records within the HRIS. Ensure data integrity through regular reviews, audits, and reconciliations. Independently research and troubleshoot HRIS, payroll, and employee data issues. Maintain appropriate documentation and confidentiality of employee information. Support system updates, testing, and process improvements as needed. Benefits Administration Support day-to-day benefits administration, including employee changes, enrollment activities, payroll deductions, and HRIS updates. Respond to employee benefits questions and coordinate with benefits providers and internal partners as needed. Help ensure accurate and timely benefits-related transactions and records. Recruitment & Onboarding Partner with the HR Director to support recruitment activities based on organizational needs. Coordinate and facilitate onboarding processes for new employees. Ensure new hire information, documentation, and HRIS records are completed accurately and on time. Help create a positive and organized onboarding experience for new employees. Compliance & HR Operations Administer HR policies, procedures, and operational processes. Support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Maintain accurate HR documentation and records. Assist with audits, reporting, and other compliance-related activities as needed. Stay informed of relevant HR and employment requirements and identify areas requiring attention or action. Employee & Supervisor Support Serve as a responsive HR resource for employees and supervisors. Provide timely guidance and follow-through on HR policies, processes, benefits, leave administration, payroll, and other employee-related inquiries. Handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion. Escalate complex or sensitive matters to the HR Director when appropriate. Process Improvement Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, documentation, systems, and workflows. Develop and implement practical improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and employee service. Take ownership of projects from identification through implementation and completion. Help establish and maintain clear, consistent HR processes and documentation. Qualifications 4+ years of progressive HR, payroll, people operations, or human resources experience. Hands-on payroll administration experience, including payroll processing, audits, reconciliations, and issue resolution. Experience administering employee leave programs, including FMLA, disability, and applicable federal, state, and local leave requirements. Experience supporting employee benefits and retirement plan administration, including 401(k) programs. Strong knowledge of employment compliance and HR operational best practices. Strong HRIS experience, including the ability to independently research and troubleshoot system and employee data issues. Experience supporting multiple teams, departments, or internal clients simultaneously. Strong attention to detail with demonstrated accountability, ownership, and follow-through. Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities, manage deadlines, and work independently. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively support employees, leaders, and external partners. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee information with discretion and professionalism. HRCI (PHR) or SHRM-CP certification is a plus.
