We are seeking a Payroll Specialist for a contract assignment with a stone, glass, and concrete manufacturing organization in Concord, California. This role is designed to provide payroll support during an employee leave of absence and is ideal for someone who can step in quickly, manage payroll with accuracy and confidentiality, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for payroll processing, certified payroll reporting, and helping maintain compliance across employee and job-related payroll activities throughout the duration of the assignment.
Responsibilities:
- Administer regular payroll cycles accurately and on schedule, using payroll systems such as Penta Technologies to ensure reliable processing.
- Maintain payroll records by entering, updating, and validating employee information in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
- Handle employee status updates including onboarding changes, separations, pay adjustments, and role changes with a high level of accuracy.
- Prepare and submit weekly certified payroll information through required client and compliance platforms, including tracker and reporting systems.
- Coordinate documentation and payroll-related compliance requirements for newly awarded or newly launched jobs.
- Generate, review, and distribute certified payroll reports each week to support internal tracking and external obligations.
- Issue correction payments, missed-time checks, and other off-cycle payroll transactions when needed.
- Support payroll operations involving multi-state processing and large employee populations while safeguarding confidential information.
