Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to support accurate and timely payroll operations for an organization based in Bristol, Connecticut. This Long-term Contract position focuses on maintaining payroll records, reviewing employee pay data, and helping ensure compliance with tax and wage-related requirements. The ideal candidate is comfortable handling payroll calculations, responding to routine payroll questions, and preparing reports that support payroll accuracy and accountability.
Responsibilities:
Process recurring payroll activities with a high level of accuracy, ensuring employee earnings, deductions, and adjustments are properly recorded.
Review and maintain timekeeping information to confirm hours worked, paid time off, and related pay inputs are complete before payroll is finalized.
Administer payroll garnishments and other required deductions in accordance with applicable orders, regulations, and internal guidelines.
Prepare and distribute payroll-related reports that support auditing, reconciliation, and management review.
Verify wage, benefit, and tax data to help ensure employees are paid correctly and with appropriate withholdings.
Assist with year-end payroll activities, including the preparation and review of W-2 and W-9 documentation.
Investigate payroll discrepancies, resolve routine issues, and follow up on missing or inconsistent payroll information.
Maintain organized payroll records and support compliance with company policies and payroll reporting requirements. Requirements
Experience processing payroll in a detail-oriented business environment.
Working knowledge of full-cycle payroll practices, including earnings, deductions, and payroll adjustments.
Familiarity with payroll operations for employee populations ranging from 101 to 500 workers.
Experience handling payroll garnishments and related deduction requirements.
Ability to review timekeeping records and identify discrepancies before payroll submission.
Understanding of payroll taxes, wage calculations, and employee benefit deductions.
Proficiency in preparing payroll reports and maintaining accurate payroll documentation.
