This position is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for field electricians, apprentices, foremen, project staff, and corporate employees while maintaining compliance with federal, state, local, union, and prevailing wage requirements. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment where payroll must accurately account for multiple jobs, pay rates, overtime rules, union classifications, and labor cost codes. Key Responsibilities Process weekly payroll for field and office employees, ensuring accurate wages, overtime, deductions, reimbursements, bonuses, and other compensation Review employee timesheets and timekeeping records for accuracy, resolving discrepancies with project managers, foremen, supervisors, and employees prior to payroll submission Allocate employee hours and labor costs to the appropriate electrical projects, job numbers, cost codes, departments, and phases to support accurate job costing Maintain employee payroll records including new hires, terminations, wage changes, direct deposits, tax elections, garnishments, deductions, PTO, and benefit elections Manage payroll requirements for electricians, apprentices, foremen, and other field employees working across multiple job sites and jurisdictions Track and process regular hours, overtime, double time, shift differentials, travel time, per diem, allowances, and other construction-specific compensation Administer union payroll requirements including wage rates, classifications, dues, benefit contributions, pension, health and welfare, and other collectively bargained obligations Monitor prevailing wage classifications and ensure employees are paid according to applicable wage determinations and project requirements Reconcile payroll each pay period and investigate discrepancies involving hours, rates, deductions, taxes, benefits, or job allocations Coordinate with Accounting and Project Management to ensure payroll information flows accurately into job costing, general ledger, and project financial reporting Prepare payroll reports, labor reports, union reports, certified payroll documentation, and supporting information for management Assist with quarterly and year-end payroll activities including W-2 preparation, payroll tax reconciliations, audits, and reporting Respond to employee payroll questions professionally and resolve issues involving paychecks, deductions, PTO balances, taxes, or benefits Maintain accurate documentation and payroll records in accordance with company policies and federal, state, and local recordkeeping requirements Support workers' compensation audits, union audits, prevailing wage audits, and other payroll or labor compliance reviews Partner with HR and Accounting on employee onboarding, compensation changes, benefits deductions, terminations, and payroll-related compliance Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, timekeeping procedures, reporting accuracy, and overall administrative efficiency Qualifications 3+ years of payroll administration or payroll processing experience, preferably within electrical contracting, construction, skilled trades, or another field-based workforce Strong understanding of payroll practices, wage and hour regulations, overtime requirements, payroll taxes, and employee deductions Construction payroll experience including job costing, cost codes, multiple pay rates, and field timekeeping strongly preferred Experience with union payroll, prevailing wage, and certified payroll highly preferred Familiarity with Davis-Bacon requirements and government or public works projects is a plus Strong Excel skills and experience working with payroll, accounting, ERP, or construction management systems Experience with platforms such as ADP , Paychex, UKG, Sage, Foundation, Viewpoint Vista, CMiC, Procore, or similar systems is beneficial Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies before payroll is finalized Ability to handle confidential employee and compensation information with discretion Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced contracting environment
Pay:
$50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
