Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to support payroll operations for a transport organization in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This Contract position is ideal for someone who can manage payroll activities with precision, work effectively across multi-state requirements, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment. The role calls for strong systems knowledge, careful recordkeeping, and the ability to help ensure employees are paid correctly and on schedule.

Responsibilities:

• Process payroll for hourly and salaried employees, ensuring payments are issued accurately and on time through methods such as direct deposit and pay cards.
• Examine payroll, benefits, and tax data to identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and support compliant payroll practices across multiple states.
• Maintain payroll files and supporting documentation in line with legal, regulatory, and company recordkeeping standards.
• Evaluate established payroll workflows and authorize processing steps to help ensure consistency, accuracy, and policy adherence.
• Reconcile payroll-related balances and investigate variances to support reliable financial records.
• Work across payroll platforms and timekeeping systems to enter, verify, and update employee information with a high degree of accuracy.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to answer payroll-related questions and provide clear communication regarding pay, deductions, and tax matters.
• Assist with additional payroll and administrative duties as business needs require. Requirements
• Hands-on experience managing full-cycle payroll processing.
• Background handling multi-state payroll tax requirements and related compliance activities.
• Experience supporting payroll for workforces of 500 or more employees is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with both union and non-union payroll environments is preferred.
• Working knowledge of payroll and HR systems such as Workday, Kronos, Ceridian, Paychex, Paycom, and similar platforms.
• Solid account reconciliation skills with the ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with effective listening and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to learn new software and systems quickly while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
