Full Job Description Summary:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, and reconciliation of the Bi-weekly payroll and the administration of the payroll system. The Payroll Specialist processes the bi-weekly payroll for the 4 entities for the Curalta network.
Essential Functions, Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Payroll Duties:
Reviews the computation of pay and associated deductions for accuracy Maintains up-to-date knowledge of city, state, provincial, local, & federal legislation affecting payroll Updates payroll records and records/tracks payroll changes as needed Performs basic reconciliation and auditing processes during each pay cycle Understands and follows applicable provisions for a compliant payroll Coordinates payroll processing with HR/Benefits team Responds to and resolves any inquiries regarding paychecks or payroll reporting Ensures payroll issues are escalated and resolved promptly Tracks and records updates to payroll records to ensure the correct outcome of the bi-weekly payroll process Prepares payroll related reports Coordinates with HR team, manager, Sun Life, and employee the LOA requests relating to payroll related items Tracking benefit premiums while one is on LOA Ensure timely communications with employees regarding missed premium payments Ensure missed premium payments are captured timely Coordinates with HR team, benefits vendor, employee regarding benefits enrollment or changes relating to payroll related items Tracking changes in benefits impacting premiums Coordinates with HR team regarding new hires and terminated employees related to pay changes Vacation payout Prorated payroll Adheres to the attendance policy Performs other related duties as assigned
Education & Experience:
Associate's degree in finance or human resources preferred or related field and/or equivalent experience. At least three years' experience with payroll required. Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 suite Working understanding of payroll principles, practices, and procedures.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Ability to keep confidential information confidential. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
