Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Payroll Accountant to oversee payroll processing and certified payroll compliance for our growing construction operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll administration, prevailing wage compliance, and certified payroll reporting. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate payroll processing and compliance with federal, state, and project-specific labor requirements. Remote or hybrid work may be available for the right candidate. Responsibilities Process weekly payroll accurately and on time Maintain payroll records, employee earnings, deductions, garnishments, and benefit withholdings Prepare and submit certified payroll reports for public works and prevailing wage projects Ensure compliance with Davis-Bacon Act, Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements, and New York State prevailing wage regulations Review employee time records and labor allocations for accuracy and proper job costing Calculate and track prevailing wage rates and fringe benefit requirements Coordinate payroll tax filings, year-end processing, and W-2 preparation Prepare compliance reports and respond to requests from owners, contractors, auditors, and government agencies Utilize payroll and compliance reporting systems such as Paycom, LCPtracker, Elation Systems, or similar platforms Collaborate with Accounting, Human Resources, and Operations to resolve payroll and labor compliance issues Qualifications 3-5 years of payroll processing experience required Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred Experience working with a payroll software provider or payroll management system required (Paycom and/or Paychex) Experience preparing and submitting certified payroll reports Demonstrated experience with Davis-Bacon Act and Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements LCPtracker and/or Elation Systems compliance reporting experience preferred Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and labor compliance requirements Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee payroll and compliance information Construction industry experience strongly preferred
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
