Payroll Specialist Goodlettsville, TN / Hybrid – 2 Days in, 3 Days Remote $24.00 – $31.00 per hour Human Resources, Payroll & Professional Services About the Opportunity – Payroll Specialist Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join a collaborative and employee-focused team. Key Responsibilities – Payroll Specialist Process payroll accurately and on schedule while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies. Manage complex payroll calculations, including retroactive pay, vacation payouts, leave of absence pay, prorated salaries, supplemental payments, and benefit arrears. Review, reconcile, and validate payroll data to ensure accuracy before and after payroll processing. Monitor employee timekeeping records and partner with managers to ensure timely approvals and submissions. Coordinate payroll-related employee status changes, including new hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations. Maintain payroll tax records and ensure employee tax setup information remains accurate and compliant. Track paid time off balances, process wage garnishments, and manage off-cycle payroll requests. Support quarterly reporting, year-end payroll activities, and W-2 preparation. Serve as a trusted resource for employee payroll questions, delivering exceptional customer service and timely issue resolution. Partner closely with HR, Accounting, and Finance teams to improve processes, ensure accuracy, and support organizational goals. Qualifications – Payroll Specialist High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Office Management, or a related field preferred. Experience processing payroll with a strong understanding of payroll regulations, payroll taxes, wage and hour laws, and multi-state payroll practices. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and payroll/HRIS platforms such as ADP Workforce Now, UKG, Kronos, or similar systems. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accuracy when handling sensitive and confidential information. Excellent communication, customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze payroll discrepancies, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions. Self-starter with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility to work additional hours when necessary during payroll cycles, quarter-end, and year-end processing. Valid driver's license, proof of automobile insurance, and reliable transportation preferred. Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, process improvement, and delivering high-quality payroll support.
