Payroll Specialist Goodlettsville, TN / Hybrid – 2 Days in, 3 Days Remote $24.00 – $31.00 per hour Human Resources, Payroll & Professional Services About the Opportunity – Payroll Specialist Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations and ensure accurate, timely payroll processing in a fast-paced environment. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with HR and Accounting teams while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. The ideal candidate will excel in customer service, accuracy, and managing confidential employee information. Key Responsibilities – Payroll Specialist Process payroll accurately and on schedule while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. Perform payroll calculations including retroactive pay, vacation payouts, leave of absence pay, prorated salaries, additional payments, and benefit arrears collections. Reconcile payroll records before transmission and validate payroll reports after processing. Review, verify, and track employee timesheets to ensure timely submission and approval. Coordinate payroll-related employee changes, including new hires and terminations, with HR partners. Maintain employee tax records and ensure payroll tax setups remain current and compliant. Monitor paid time off balances and process wage garnishments and off-cycle payroll payments. Assist with quarterly and year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and reporting. Respond to employee payroll inquiries and provide outstanding customer service. Collaborate with HR, accounting, and finance teams to support payroll accuracy and operational efficiency. Qualifications – Payroll Specialist High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Office Management, or a related field preferred. Experience processing payroll with knowledge of payroll regulations, wage and hour laws, multi-state payroll, and payroll tax calculations. Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and HRIS/payroll systems. (ADP Workforce Now, UKG, Kronos, etc) Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately handle complex and confidential information. Excellent written and verbal communication, customer service, organizational, and time management skills. Ability to troubleshoot payroll issues, analyze data, and provide effective solutions. Ability to work flexible hours and overtime when needed. Valid driver's license, proof of automobile insurance, and reliable transportation preferred. Demonstrated commitment to accuracy, continuous learning, and delivering high-quality payroll support. #
