Job Description

Patient Financial Advisor Full-Time Position/40 hours per week Shift Hours
M-F, 8AM - 4
30PM Full Benefits Scheurer Health, a Critical Access rural hospital, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Financial Advisor to join our team in Pigeon, MI. The ideal candidate will have experience as a patient financial counselor and be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities Financial Screening:
Interview patients and families to evaluate their ability to pay and determine eligibility for government or internal assistance programs.
Insurance Verification:
Verify insurance eligibility, check benefits, and obtain necessary pre-authorizations for medical procedures.
Cost Estimation:
Calculate and explain out-of-pocket costs, deductibles, copays, and good faith estimates to patients prior to or during treatment.
Assistance Program Navigation:
Guide patients through applications for Medicaid, Medicare, state programs, and the hospital s charity care programs.
Payment Collection:
Establish structured payment plans and collect point-of-service payments in a professional, compliant, and empathetic manner.
System Documentation:
Maintain precise records of insurance details, financial agreements, and patient notes within the electronic health record (EHR) system.
Requirements:
