What's Awesome About Our Client?
- A Minot tax firm that's part of a one-stop shop for financial planning, employee benefits and tax.
- More clients than they can take care of, thanks to a strong referral network.
- No direct reports and no selling, so your time stays on the client side.
- A low-key, family-friendly office where people get to grow into the work they're best at.
Why This Job - Tax Advisor We've partnered with a tax and accounting firm in Minot that sits alongside a financial planning and benefits business. Their clients keep coming over from the planning side, and they're looking for a CPA or EA to be the person those clients sit down with. The bookkeepers and preparers do the first pass and keep you posted, and you have the conversation with the client about retirement, the tax bill or selling the business. The owner wants every client to feel looked after, and he plans to get choosier about who they keep so the ones who stay get more of your time. You won't manage anyone and nobody expects you to bring in business. Most of their people have grown into a different job than the one they were hired for. If you're a CPA or EA who likes the client side of tax, reach out.
What You'll Actually Do:
- Be the person clients sit down with to plan, whether it's retirement, a tax bill that's too high, selling the business or handing it to the kids.
- Review and sign individual and business returns after the preparers do the first look and the data entry.
- Work with the IRS when a client gets a letter or a call.
- Take the questions that get passed up from a client's bookkeeper.
- Help the team on the harder bookkeeping and tax cases, and research the tax issues that come up along the way.
- Work a client base of about 150 small businesses, mostly S corps and partnerships, plus about 400 individual returns a season, a lot of them farms.
