We are a local tax and accounting office seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Senior Tax Specialist to join our team in Lakewood, Washington. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse client base—including individuals, self-employed professionals, real estate investors, landlords, and small businesses—while building long-term tax, client-service, and advisory experience. This position may be seasonal, part-time, or full-time . Compensation is competitive and based on experience, credentials, production, and scope of responsibilities. Performance-based incentives may be available.

Compensation:
Competitive hourly rate or salary, commensurate with experience; performance-based incentives may be available What You'll Do Prepare and review accurate federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, sole proprietors, LLCs, partnerships, and small businesses. Conduct client interviews and gather, organize, and review tax documentation, including W-2s, 1099s, K-1s, brokerage statements, prior-year returns, and business income and expense records. Identify applicable deductions, credits, elections, and tax-planning opportunities while maintaining compliance with current tax laws and filing requirements. Review completed returns for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and filing readiness. Electronically file returns and assist clients with estimated tax payments, extensions, amended returns, and IRS or state tax notices. Communicate clearly and professionally with clients regarding missing documents, return status, filing questions, and tax outcomes. Maintain secure, well-organized client files and protect confidential taxpayer information. Stay current on federal and Washington-related tax rules, filing procedures, and IRS guidance. Support year-round tax-planning and bookkeeping coordination, depending on experience and workload. What We're Looking For Prior experience preparing individual federal and state income tax returns is required. Experience with self-employed clients, rental-property owners, investors, and small-business tax returns is strongly preferred. Active PTIN required, or ability to obtain one before beginning work. Strong understanding of Forms 1040,1120, 1120S, 1065 reporting, as well as Schedule A, Schedule C, Schedule D, Schedule E, K-1s, estimated-tax calculations, and common individual tax issues. Working knowledge of professional tax-preparation software, such as Drake Tax, ProSeries, UltraTax, Lacerte, TaxSlayer Pro, or comparable platforms. Drake Tax experience is preferred. Strong attention to detail, organization, accuracy, discretion, and ability to manage multiple files during peak tax deadlines. Clear written and verbal communication skills and a strong client-service mindset. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PDF/document-management tools, and secure client portals is preferred.
