Description We are looking for a knowledgeable Tax Specialist to join a collaborative financial planning firm serving individual clients in Michigan. This position focuses on personal income tax preparation, tax analysis, and proactive guidance that supports clients' broader financial goals. The ideal candidate brings strong technical tax expertise, sound judgment, and a client-focused approach to navigating filing requirements and tax-related questions.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and review individual income tax returns with a high degree of accuracy and attention to applicable regulations. Communicate with federal and state tax authorities to monitor, clarify, and help resolve client tax notices and related matters. Research nuanced tax questions and compile clear support for conclusions, recommendations, and filing positions. Evaluate client income, deductions, and overall tax situations to identify planning opportunities for future tax years. Partner with advisors and other professionals to align tax work with each client's broader financial planning strategy. Maintain organized records, documentation, and correspondence to support filings and client service needs. Provide responsive, thorough assistance to clients by explaining tax matters in a clear and approachable manner. Contribute to additional tax and administrative projects as business needs evolve. Requirements - Must hold an active Enrolled Agent credential. At least 5 years of experience preparing individual tax returns. Strong working knowledge of individual taxation and related compliance requirements. Proven ability to deliver excellent client service in a detail-oriented environment. Comfortable using tax and office technology; experience with Lacerte is preferred. Effective communication skills with the ability to manage a range of client personalities and expectations. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail when handling complex tax matters.
