Tax or bookkeeping experience is helpful, but not required. You will:
Receive, scan, label, and organize client documents. Use checklists and office procedures to check files for completeness. Follow up with clients by phone and email for missing documents and information. Track outstanding requests and keep client files current. Assemble organized files for the tax preparers and flag questions for their attention. Accurately enter client information into our systems. Handle confidential financial and personal information carefully. You will receive training on our procedures and software. You will not be expected to prepare tax returns independently. As You Learn the Role With training and guidance, you'll gradually help with: Entering and categorizing bookkeeping transactions. Reconciling bank and credit card accounts. Maintaining client records in QuickBooks. Preparing supporting reports and schedules for our accountants. Other administrative and bookkeeping tasks that keep client work moving. What We're Looking For Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Dependability, punctuality, and consistent follow-through. Solid computer skills, including email, digital files, PDFs, and basic spreadsheets. Ability to learn new software and follow established procedures. Confidence communicating professionally with clients and following up on unanswered requests. Ability to manage several assignments and keep track of deadlines. Willingness to ask questions, take feedback, and learn. Comfort working in our Maspeth office and meeting the tax-season schedule. We welcome applicants from varied work backgrounds, including people returning to the workforce or changing careers. An accounting degree is not required. Helpful, but Not Required Experience in office administration, client service, document management, tax intake, or bookkeeping.
