Full Job Description About Us:
The Nash Group P.S. was founded in 2020, building on a Tacoma-area legacy that dates back to the 1970s. Based in Fircrest, we serve contractors, real estate investors, and small business owners and are looking for an experienced tax professional to manage and grow their own client base. With a team of six full-time employees, we value collaboration, regular communication, and a strong team culture. This is an opportunity to work directly with clients, expand your book of business, and help shape the future of the firm. Job Overview You prepare individual tax returns in Drake and hand them to a reviewer. You do not sign returns, and you are not responsible for a book of clients. Somebody more senior checks your work, answers your questions, and takes the call when a client has one. The rest of the year you support the business clients: bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online, reconciliations, cleaning up records before a return gets prepared. It is steady work, year-round, not a seasonal job that ends April 16. We just brought a second Tacoma practice into the firm, so the volume is real, and there is plenty to learn. If you want to move from simple returns into rentals, Schedule C, and small business work, we will teach you. Responsibilities Prepare, review, and sign individual, S/ C corporation, partnership, C corporation, trust, and estate returns Own client relationships for your book: meetings, calls, questions, notices, and planning conversations Grow your book by adding services for existing clients and bringing on new ones Review preparer work, give feedback, and help train the team Help us finish our move to Drake Tax and keep improving a fully paperless workflow Sit in on the Friday management meeting and have a real say in how the firm runs Excellent client communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly and effectively Strong analysis skills in account reconciliation, asset management, budget creation, and financial planning Requirements An active PTIN, or the ability to get one before January At least one tax season preparing returns somewhere, whether that was a firm, a storefront, or a volunteer program Careful with detail. Most of this job is getting numbers into the right box and noticing when something does not tie Comfortable with software: professional tax software, Microsoft 365, spreadsheets, and a fully paperless workflow Willing to ask a question rather than guess Drake Tax or Lacerte experience (we run both today and are moving to Drake; Training on either is provided) Experience with contractors, real estate investors, or closely held businesses You have brought in clients yourself Nice to have Drake Tax or Lacerte experience (we run both today and are moving to Drake; we will train you on either) QuickBooks Online Working toward an Enrolled Agent credential, or interested in starting Any exposure to contractors, rental property, or small business returns No degree required. No CPA or EA required. If you can prepare an accurate return and you want to get better at it, we want to talk to you. Benefits $20.00 to $24.00 per hour, depending on experience Overtime paid at time and a half over 40 hours in a week
