Full Job Description About Us:
The Nash Group P.S. was founded in 2020, building on a Tacoma-area legacy that dates back to the 1970s. Based in Fircrest, we serve contractors, real estate investors, and small business owners and are looking for an experienced tax professional to manage and grow their own client base. With a team of six full-time employees, we value collaboration, regular communication, and a strong team culture. This is an opportunity to work directly with clients, expand your book of business, and help shape the future of the firm. Job Overview You prepare the harder returns: individuals with Schedule C, rentals, K-1s and multi-state issues, plus S corporations, partnerships, and trusts. Everything goes to a reviewer, and you do not sign returns. You are not carrying a book of clients or chasing new business. You will also check work coming from our junior preparers before it reaches the reviewer, and handle the year-round business work: bookkeeping projects, month-end, Washington Department of Revenue and B&O filings. Client contact starts small and grows. In the first few months, it is mostly missing items and return status. As you get to know the work, we want you in more of those conversations. How fast that happens is up to you. We just brought a second Tacoma practice into the firm, so there is real volume and a real range of returns to work on. Immediate opening, and we would like you to settle before the 2027 filing season. Responsibilities Prepare individual returns with Schedule C, rental property, K-1s, and multi-state filings Prepare S corporation, partnership, and trust returns for review Review work from junior preparers before it goes up the line, and tell them what you changed and why Bookkeeping projects and month-end work for business clients in QuickBooks Online Washington DOR filings, B&O, and the state items that come with construction and small business clients Talk with clients about missing items and return status, and take on more of those conversations as the year goes Tie returns to source documents and clear diagnostics before handing off Requirements An active PTIN 2 to 3 years preparing individual and business returns at a firm, not only seasonal storefront work You have prepared 1120S and 1065 returns, even if someone else signed them Comfortable on the phone with a business owner, explaining what you need and why Strong with software and digital workflows: professional tax software, Microsoft 365, QuickBooks Online, and a fully paperless process Able to work independently on a return and know when to raise a hand Nice to have Drake Tax or Lacerte experience (we run both today and are moving to Drake; we will train on either) Enrolled Agent, or working toward it Experience with contractors, real estate investors, or closely held businesses Trust and estate returns A CPA or EA is welcome but not required. What matters is that you can produce a clean, complete return without much direction.
