Resolve outstanding accounting items, verify supporting documentation, and establish reliable opening balances and an organized audit trail. Implement financial systems and controls. Lead the accounting side of the NorthScope transition, including account mapping, data migration, reconciliations, approval workflows, and coordination with payroll, purchasing, inventory, and fish accounts. Establish meaningful cost tracking. Develop consistent coding by company, department, project, property, vehicle, and equipment. Allocate shared expenses and distinguish construction, startup, and operating costs. Maintain fixed-asset and construction schedules. Track acquisitions, project additions, equipment placed in service, depreciation, transfers, and disposals in coordination with engineering and outside advisers. Manage budgets and cash forecasts. Monitor spending, purchase commitments, outstanding obligations, and remaining project costs. Forecast working capital needs through startup, processing, and customer collections. Oversee seafood accounting controls. Coordinate reconciliation of fish purchases, fishermen's advances and settlements, tender charges, inventory, production, and sales. Develop useful operating reports. Analyze processing cost per pound, yields, labor costs, freight, product margins, and budget variances. Explain the results clearly to management. Manage payroll and financial administration. Establish and take full responsibility for in-house payroll across all companies, including processing approved time records, calculating wages and deductions, issuing payments, allocating labor costs, managing payroll tax deposits and filings, completing reconciliations, and preparing year-end reporting. Coordinate with HR on employee records, pay changes, benefits deductions, and approvals. Maintain the payroll and financial filing calendar. Support the accounting team. Establish clear procedures, train staff, and identify additional support needed during implementation and the processing season. What we're looking for Progressive accounting experience, including responsibility for reconciliations, financial statements, monthly close, and internal controls. Experience managing accounting for multiple entities, including intercompany transactions and shared-cost allocations. Strong understanding of inventory, cost accounting, fixed assets, and capital projects. Experience implementing or improving accounting software and financial workflows. Strong Excel skills and the ability to turn accounting data into clear, useful reports. A practical, organized approach and willingness to work directly with transactions and supporting records. Clear communication, sound judgment, and dependable follow-through. A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Experience with seafood processing, seasonal operations, manufacturing, transportation, or property accounting would be valuable. NorthScope experience and CPA or CMA credentials are preferred.
