Salary:
$115,000 - $132,000 Job Description Summary The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in overseeing the dealership's accounting and financial operations. This role helps ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records, compliance with company policies and accounting standards, and timely reporting of financial results. The Assistant Controller partners with department leaders to support business objectives, improve processes, and maintain strong internal controls within a fast-paced automotive dealership environment.
Responsibilities:
Assist with the preparation and review of monthly financial statements, schedules, and management reports. Support daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory accounting, cash management, and general ledger reconciliations. Ensure compliance with company policies, manufacturer requirements, accounting standards, and internal controls. Review and reconcile dealership transactions, including vehicle sales, service operations, parts inventory, and warranty receivables. Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Support audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting requirements by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries. Partner with department managers to analyze financial performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and support operational efficiency . Lead, coach, and develop the Business Office team to drive operational excellence, financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and exceptional customer service. 3+ years of accounting experience within an automotive dealership environment. Bachelor's degree in accounting a plus. Strong knowledge of dealership accounting practices, financial reporting, and internal control procedures. Experience with dealership management systems (CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, Dealertrack, or similar) and Microsoft Excel. Ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Requirements:
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Ability to successfully complete pre-employment requirements, including background check, motor vehicle record (MVR) review, and drug screening.
Compensation:
$115,000 to $132,000 Salary (The Assistant Controller position has a pay scale consisting of the following elements and ranges. Wages include salaried annual compensation of between $115,000 and $132,000.)
Schedule:
Full Time Monday through Friday May work weekends/holiday as needed for closing.
