Full Job Description Position Overview:
As the finance leader at Oakridge, this role's responsibility is to safeguard the financial health of the business and build a high-performing accounting team that supports every department. This position oversees day-to-day accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting across Oakridge's business entities, working closely with ownership and department leaders to provide accurate, timely financial information. The Controller leads and develops the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable team, ensuring strong internal controls, clean books, and reliable cash management. This role plays a critical part in budgeting, forecasting, and compliance, helping Oakridge make sound financial decisions as the business grows.
Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy Serve as a key member of the leadership team, contributing financial insight to the company's big-picture strategy and direction Lead, manage, and hold accountable the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable team members Foster a positive, high-performing culture within the finance department built on strong relationships and clear communication Partner with ownership and department leaders to support budgeting, projections, and financial decision-making Accounting & Bookkeeping Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, loans, and other balance sheet accounts Maintain accurate QuickBooks records across multiple business entities Prepare and post month-end journal entries and accruals Maintain and reconcile intercompany due-to/due-from accounts Review prior-month profit and loss statements and balance sheets for accuracy Maintain supporting accounting schedules and financial records Oversee depreciation, payroll accruals, management fees, housing entries, and other recurring journal entries Maintain accurate expense allocations between departments and business entities Research and resolve accounting discrepancies as needed Accounts Payable & Cash Management Oversee processing of ACH payments, checks, loan payments, rent payments, and vendor payments Review and approve invoices exported from accounts payable systems Monitor unpaid bills and upcoming payment obligations Coordinate recurring payments to lenders, vendors, boards, and other partners Manage bank deposits and cash-management activities Oversee petty cash records and supporting documentation Review bank exceptions and approve or escalate items as appropriate Accounts Receivable & Billing Oversee preparation of customer and wholesale statements Ensure timely processing and recording of customer payments Oversee recurring customer billing Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and drive collections Manage billing and account reconciliation for key Creamery customers Track bottle, crate, lease, delivery, and other customer-related charges where applicable Financial Reporting & Analysis Maintain financial projections and borrowing-base information Update loan balances and related QuickBooks accounts Prepare monthly and annual financial reporting Maintain rolling financial projections and projection-to-actual reports Support dairy profitability and operational financial monitoring Maintain milk-price calculations and other agricultural financial schedules Assist with forage balance sheets and other farm-related reporting Prepare quarterly board reports Support management with annual projections, budgeting, and allocation calculations Compliance & Tax Administration Oversee sales tax filings and payments Maintain property-tax and agricultural tax-exemption documentation Coordinate annual business reports and required government filings Oversee 1099 preparation and filing Maintain documentation for workers' compensation audits Complete or coordinate required Department of Labor and other regulatory reporting Maintain accurate records and documentation to support audits and compliance requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience Prior experience in accounting or finance leadership; agriculture or dairy industry experience preferred Experience with agricultural accounting required, including farm/dairy-specific financial practices such as milk-price calculations, forage balance sheets, and agricultural tax-exemption compliance Proficiency in QuickBooks and strong Excel skills Proven experience managing or supervising accounting staff, including AR and AP functions Strong understanding of GAAP, month-end close processes, and financial reporting Strong problem-solving abilities with experience analyzing complex issues and implementing effective solutions Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and entities Strategic mindset with the ability to develop and execute plans aligned with company goals Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with teams, vendors, and partners High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and confidentiality Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, staying organized and communicative across both remote and in-office days

Employment Classification:
Full-time, exempt (salaried) position, typically requiring 40-45 hours per week, with additional hours expected during month-end close, budgeting, and audit periods.
Pay:
$80,000.00
