Type:

full-time Our client, located close to Vernon Hills, Illinois is a leading national electrical and construction contractor. Due to continued company growth they are seeking an Assistant Financial Controller to join there team. Prior experience working for an electrical and/or construction contractor is required.

What You'll Do Leadership & Process Improvement:

Mentor accounting staff, implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and drive technology efficiencies and system optimizations. Manage the accounts payable manager and coordinate process improvements with procurement and project management.

Accounting Operations:

Review and prepare consolidated financial statements, support month-end and year-end close processes, assist in general ledger oversight, and manage journal entries and account reconciliations.

Financial Planning & Compliance:

Partner with the CFO on annual budgeting and forecasting, and support the Director of Treasury with cash flow management. Ensure GAAP compliance, safeguard assets through robust internal controls, and assist the Controller with annual audits, tax prep, and regulatory reporting.

Who You Are Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with 7-12+ years of progressive accounting experience (WIP and job costing in construction preferred). CPA preferred.

Technical Skills:

Proficient in construction ERP/accounting software (CMiC is a strong plus) and advanced in Excel. Passionate about leveraging AI tools to streamline business processes.

Soft Skills:

Highly organized, analytical, and self-motivated problem solver with meticulous attention to detail. An excellent communicator capable of mentoring teams, maintaining strict confidentiality, and adapting to a fast-paced, evolving environment.

What We Offer Compensation:

$165,000 - $210,000 annual base pay (dependent on experience, location, and market conditions), plus bonus eligibility.
