We are seeking a hands-on Controller who combines strong technical accounting expertise with proven leadership abilities. Position Summary The Controller is responsible for leading accurate, timely, and well-controlled accounting and financial reporting activities for FaciliServ, Inc. and associated entities. This role oversees core accounting operations, supports financial planning and decision-making, manages compliance obligations, oversees customer bids/contract obligations, and partners with teams across the organization to strengthen financial performance and operational discipline. The successful candidate will bring sound accounting judgment, strong analytical skills, attention to detail, a \"roll-up your sleeves\" mentality to jump in and perform all aspects of department functions, and a collaborative approach to interdepartmental responsibilities. Essential Responsibilities Provide trustworthy financial information, maintain disciplined accounting operations, and help the company make informed decisions while managing financial, compliance, and operational risk. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, management reports, schedules, and other financial analyses for internal and external stakeholders. Maintain the general ledger and supporting schedules, prepare and review journal entries and reconciliations, and support an efficient, accurate, and well-documented close process. Lead budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, cash-flow reporting, and KPI reporting; explain significant trends and recommend actions to improve financial performance. Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, company policies, and internal controls. Review, negotiate, track, and administer contracts, including financial terms, renewals, compliance obligations, documentation, and escalation of financial or operational risk. Analyze sales tax obligations, including rates, exemptions, registrations, filings, reconciliations, and support for sales tax audits or information requests. Oversee accounts payable, including invoice approval workflows, vendor setup, payment processing, three-way matching, expense coding, and vendor statement reconciliation. Oversee accounts receivable, including customer account setup, billing accuracy, collections, aging reports, cash application, credit review, and account reconciliations. Manage the invoicing process, including recurring and project-based invoices, approvals, supporting documentation, customer inquiries, credits, adjustments, and timely delivery. Coordinate with sales, operations, human resources, legal, payroll, external accountants, auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners to resolve issues and meet reporting, compliance, and business needs. Improve accounting processes, systems, documentation, and internal controls to increase efficiency, accuracy, transparency, and scalability. Support audits, tax filings, financial reviews, due diligence, and other company initiatives requiring accurate accounting information and documentation. Protect confidential financial information and promote consistent adherence to accounting policies, approval requirements, segregation of duties, and data-quality standards. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. 10+ years of progressive accounting or financial reporting experience, including experience with general ledger accounting and period-end close activities. Experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, accounting manager, or comparable financial operations leadership role. Demonstrated experience preparing financial statements, management reporting, reconciliations, budgets, forecasts, cash-flow reports, and variance analyses. Deep knowledge of applicable accounting standards, financial controls, audit practices, and documentation requirements. Experience overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, collections, vendor relationships, and customer billing processes. Experience with contract review, financial risk assessment, sales tax compliance, audit coordination, and process or system improvement. Ability to analyze sales tax requirements and coordinate filings, reconciliations, audit support, and related documentation. Strong spreadsheet skills and experience using accounting, enterprise resource planning, reporting, or financial systems. Experience working with CRM, accounting software, payroll software, access, excel, and other Microsoft Office programs. Excellent attention to detail, organization, time management, and ability to meet recurring deadlines while managing competing priorities. Able to work well under pressure and within required timelines. High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial, employee, customer, and vendor information. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and respond promptly to urgent requests. Work experience supporting a growing, multi-state, multi-entity, or otherwise complex operating environment. Experience implementing or improving accounting systems, reporting tools, approval workflows, documentation, or internal control frameworks.
