Job Description

Controller Position Overview A growing manufacturing and service organization is seeking a hands-on Controller to oversee its day-to-day accounting function and help strengthen financial processes, reporting, and controls. Reporting directly to the CFO, this individual will take ownership of the monthly close, financial reporting, general ledger, internal controls, and accounting operations while providing leadership to a small accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for either an early-career Controller/Accounting Manager or a strong Senior Accountant ready to take the next step into leadership . The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in manufacturing accounting, solid GAAP knowledge, and the ability to operate effectively in a lean, growing environment. Key Responsibilities Own the monthly and annual close process and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting in accordance with
U.S. GAAP
Maintain general ledger integrity, chart of accounts, journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations Prepare monthly financial statements, management reporting, and variance analysis Develop and maintain effective accounting processes, internal controls, and close procedures Manage revenue recognition, including deferred and recurring revenue Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation Support cash-flow forecasting, working-capital management, and banking activities Assist with budgeting, forecasting, margin analysis, and financial planning Support sales/use tax, audit, and other accounting compliance requirements Oversee AP, AR, bookkeeping, and other transactional accounting activities Lead, mentor, and provide support to a small accounting team Partner with the CFO on process improvements, automation, and enhancements to accounting systems Help improve the scalability and efficiency of the accounting function as the organization grows Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Approximately 4-8 years of progressive accounting experience Strong preference for experience within manufacturing, distribution, industrial services, or a similar operational environment Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, and month-end close Experience with inventory, cost accounting, revenue recognition, fixed assets, and/or working-capital accounting is highly desirable Previous leadership experience is preferred, although strong Senior Accountants ready to step into management will be considered Experience working with an ERP system; NetSuite experience is a plus CPA or CPA-track experience is a plus but not required Strong Excel and financial analysis skills Comfortable working in a hands-on environment where the Controller is involved in both higher-level reporting and day-to-day accounting Process-oriented mindset with an interest in improving systems, controls, and accounting procedures
