Dedicated to enhancing the community's quality of life, KCF supports a wide range of initiatives and partnerships that address local needs and opportunities. Our work is rooted in five core values: Collaboration, Inclusivity, Integrity, Service, and Stewardship. These principles guide our partnerships, initiatives, and decisions as we work toward a thriving, connected, and resilient community. More Than a Finance Role We are looking for a strong financial and operational leader who wants to help build something. KCF is evolving its role in the community—bringing together people, resources, ideas, and opportunities to strengthen our region. As that work grows, we need someone who can lead the business side of the organization and help ensure that what we are building is effective, data-informed, and financially sustainable.
What You'll Do Finance:
Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash flow management, financial analysis, internal controls, audit preparation, and long-term financial planning.
Operations:
Improve the systems, processes, technology, policies, and infrastructure that help the organization and its people work effectively.
Data:
Help us identify what we should be measuring and create practical ways to use financial, operational, and program data to make better decisions.
Strategy:
Work alongside the CEO to evaluate opportunities, assess risks, think through new ideas, allocate resources, and help shape how KCF's role and operating model evolve. Some days you'll be deep in a spreadsheet. Other days you'll be working through an organizational problem, evaluating a new opportunity, improving a process, or helping determine where we should go next. We need someone who is comfortable doing both. Who We're Looking For We care more about what you can do than whether you've followed a particular career path. You may come from accounting or finance, banking, operations, nonprofit management, consulting, or another field that has given you strong financial and analytical skills. You may be ready for a bigger leadership opportunity, or you may be an experienced professional looking for work that offers more purpose, autonomy, and balance. Whatever your background, you should be comfortable with technology and data, have sound judgment, and be able to move between the details and the bigger picture. You should be someone who takes ownership, solves problems, asks good questions, and doesn't need to wait for someone else to identify what needs to be done. We aren't looking for someone who simply maintains systems. We want someone who will help us build better ones. A Different Kind of Leadership Opportunity We recognize that talented people have choices about where and how they work. This role has a starting salary of $80,000 and full benefits . We also offer something we believe matters: meaningful responsibility without expecting work to consume your life. We give people a lot of flexibility in how they manage their work and their lives. In return, we expect people to take ownership, be responsive, and get the work done. You'll have significant freedom in how you approach your work, the opportunity to solve problems creatively, and a meaningful role in shaping where the organization goes next. With that freedom comes responsibility. We'll expect you to take ownership of your work, exercise good judgment, bring ideas forward, and help make the organization stronger. Why This Work Matters Strong rural communities need strong institutions behind them. That requires more than good programs. It requires financial discipline, useful information, effective systems, good decision-making, and a sustainable organization. This position will play an important role in building that foundation for KCF and for the work we hope to accomplish in the years ahead. If you're looking for a role where you can put strong financial and analytical skills to work while also solving problems, shaping strategy, and making a difference in the community, we'd like to hear from you.
Schedule Position:
Full-time, exempt
Work Arrangement:
Hybrid, with flexibility to work both remotely and in the office
Schedule:
KCF offers significant flexibility in how employees structure their work. We focus on results, responsiveness, and meeting the organization's needs rather than tracking hours at a desk.
Location:
Based in Hancock, Michigan What We Offer Starting salary of $80,000 Paid time off (PTO), holidays, and parental leave Earned sick time Retirement plan with up to a 3% employer match Health, dental, and vision insurance Life insurance Short-term and long-term disability coverage Professional development opportunities Flexible and hybrid work arrangements How to Apply Submit your cover letter and resume through Indeed.
