Job Description:
A well-established, private equity-backed manufacturing and distribution company in the Greater Philadelphia area on a newly created Corporate Controller opportunity. This is a highly visible leadership role reporting directly to the CFO and offers the chance to help shape the finance organization during an exciting period of growth, including future acquisitions and operational improvements . Responsibilities Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. Oversee the general ledger, account reconciliations, and preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements. Prepare financial reporting packages for executive leadership, lenders, and ownership. Partner with operations and finance leadership on inventory accounting, cost accounting, and manufacturing-related financial reporting. Manage the annual external audit process and serve as the primary liaison with outside auditors. Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial reporting procedures. Oversee the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and general accounting functions while mentoring and developing the accounting team. Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and ERP optimization efforts. Coordinate with external tax advisors and support corporate and state tax compliance. Partner with senior leadership on special projects, strategic initiatives, and operational improvements. Growth & Acquisition Responsibilities As the organization continues to grow through both organic initiatives and strategic acquisitions, this individual will play a key role in the accounting aspects of business integrations by: Supporting financial due diligence and accounting assessments during acquisitions. Assisting with purchase accounting and post-acquisition financial integration. Standardizing accounting policies, reporting procedures, and internal controls across newly acquired businesses. Supporting ERP integrations, financial data conversions, and chart of accounts alignment. Helping develop scalable accounting processes that support continued expansion. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA strongly preferred. 8+ years of progressive accounting experience. Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager experience with increasing leadership responsibilities. Manufacturing and/or distribution industry experience strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and external audits. Experience leading accounting teams and developing staff. Exposure to cost accounting, inventory accounting, and manufacturing operations. Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, business integrations, or other strategic growth initiatives is highly desirable. Strong ERP systems experience and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership abilities.
