In this pivotal role, you will inherit a broad scope of responsibilities, supporting critical financial operations, ensuring compliance, and driving strategic financial initiatives. Key Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, conducting variance analysis, and recommending corrective actions. Manage general ledger activities, including reconciling balance sheet accounts and ensuring accuracy in accordance with GAAP. Support month-end and year-end closing processes and manage fixed asset schedules and reports. Collaborate on annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, monitoring performance against targets. Oversee accounts payable and receivable, maintaining cash flow reports and implementing effective collection and payment strategies. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and assist with audits by providing necessary documentation. Mentor junior accounting staff and work across departments to align financial goals. Monitor and report on construction assets, including proper cost allocations and depreciation.
Required Skills:
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting. Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills. Ability to work independently, manage sensitive data with professionalism, and communicate effectively both in writing and verbally. Nice to
Have Skills:
Experience using Sage Prior experience with union payroll management. Knowledge of construction assets and project accounting.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a similar industry or environment.
