ABOUT THE COMPANY

Our organization is a diversified, family-operated group of businesses spanning spirits import and distribution (agave spirits brands distributed across Georgia territories), retail liquor stores, convenience and fuel operations, and residential property management. As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Controller to bring structure, accuracy, and financial visibility across our portfolio of entities.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Controller will own day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting across multiple related entities, working directly with ownership to maintain clean books, produce timely financial statements, manage cash flow, and support strategic decisions including financing, acquisitions, and budgeting. This is a hands-on role suited to someone comfortable managing complexity across several small-to-mid-size businesses rather than a single large organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage full-cycle accounting (AP, AR, payroll support, GL) across multiple related entities Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) for each entity and on a consolidated basis Reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly; maintain clean, audit-ready records Oversee budgeting and forecasting; track performance against budget by entity and location Support ACH, money order, and daily sales/deposit reconciliation processes across retail and convenience locations Prepare financial packages and reporting for lenders, investors, and CPA/tax preparation Maintain fixed asset schedules, loan amortization schedules, and intercompany transactions between related entities Partner with ownership on cash flow management, financing decisions, and new business/acquisition due diligence Ensure compliance with state and local requirements relevant to alcohol retail, distribution, and fuel operations Identify and implement process improvements and stronger internal controls as the company scales

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA a plus but not required 5+ years of progressive accounting/controller experience; multi-entity experience strongly preferred Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, formulas, financial modeling) and QuickBooks or similar accounting software Experience in retail, hospitality, distribution, or the alcohol/beverage industry is a strong plus Strong organizational skills and comfort managing multiple books and reporting cycles simultaneously High level of discretion and integrity handling confidential financial information Excellent communication skills; able to translate financial detail into clear guidance for ownership
