Job Description

Position Summary The Assistant Controller is responsible for supporting the Controller in managing all accounting and financial reporting activities for a manufacturing operation. This role oversees daily accounting functions, ensures the accuracy of financial records, maintains compliance with GAAP, supports cost accounting and inventory management, and provides financial analysis to improve operational performance. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong manufacturing accounting experience, exceptional analytical skills, and a continuous improvement mindset. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & General Accounting Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses. Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts. Support annual financial audits and coordinate with external auditors. Cost Accounting & Inventory Analyze manufacturing variances, including labor, material, and overhead. Monitor inventory accuracy through cycle counts and physical inventories. Ensure proper accounting for raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods. Partner with Operations to improve inventory controls and cost efficiencies. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred. Experience 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory accounting, and manufacturing financial reporting. Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Infor, Epicor, or similar. Strong Excel andanalytical skills.
Pay:
$75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
