JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, performs complex professional accounting and finance work, including auditing, analyzing and verifying financial records, and reports. Prepares financial and statistical reports, provides information to the CFO regarding accounting practices and procedures, and reconciles general ledger accounts associated with all the subsidiaries of the Corpus Christi Housing Authority. Recommends improved business models; prioritizes capital investments; financial risk management and stays abreast of changes in the global economy. Collaborates with staff, public, residents, auditors, HUD, etc. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops, implements, and oversees internal controls.
Assists in development of fiscal operations to ensure accuracy and integrity of data, and to identify trends in company and industry at large.
Prepares and implements accounting and financial entries within GAAP standards and adopted company policy.
Assists in development and preparation of various reports and benchmarking, including Board reports, HUD reports, CEO reports and operations.
Serves as CFO in the absence of CFO.
Coordinates external and internal audits.
Prepares state and federal tax reports for the business activities.
Maintains confidentiality of necessary information.
Successfully completes related training or classes as assigned by CCHA.
Utilizes supplies and equipment properly and without waste.
Complies with company policies and procedures, and local, state and government regulations, and maintains a dependable attendance record.
Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and
ABILITIES
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), grant accounting, cost accounting, and of the utilization of automated systems related to financial operations.
Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, guidelines, and requirements pertaining to accounting, record keeping, reporting, and taxation, and HUD regulations.
Ability to utilize various computer software including Windows, CCS, Excel, Word, Power Point, and to use related office equipment.
Ability to address problems in a thorough and efficient manner, knowledge of financial analysis, reporting procedures and requirements.
Ability to make effective decisions and analyze information.
Effective communication skills both oral and written, ability to read and understand complex oral and written instructions and computer reports.
Ability to maintain positive working relationships and demonstrate good judgment and integrity with staff, residents, and the public.
Ability to deal effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
Ability to plan and organize workload; to prioritize, coordinates and implements a variety of tasks and assignments.
Physical Demands:
Primarily sedentary in nature, involving normal risks and discomforts associated with an office environment, with occasional lifting or moving of small objects, communication with or without accommodations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, economics, or business administration.
Must hold a current valid driver license, (must be Texas within 90 days of hire), and maintain a satisfactory drivers record. May operate Authority vehicle while on Housing Authority business.
Ability to work hours other than 8a-5p as required to meet Housing Authority goals and objectives.
Certified Public Accountant.
HUD/Yardi/Government entities experience.
