This position supports responsible management of public funds and presents financial information to the City Council. This position will be an independent department that will be overseen by and report directly to City Council Essential Responsibilities

Develop, coordinate, and monitor the City's annual budget.
Ensure purchases comply with applicable state procurement requirements and City financial policies.
Plan, organize, and oversee general ledger accounting.
Monitor and evaluate sales tax and property tax revenues.
Prepare financial summaries and forecasts for revenues, expenditures, and fund balances; present monthly reports to the City Council.
Prepare and submit documentation for federal, state, and local grants and reimbursements.
Prepare requests for proposals for audit services, evaluate submissions, and present recommendations to the City Council.
Coordinate the annual financial audit and assist external auditors.
Apply applicable federal, state, and local accounting requirements.
Must attend Monthly Council Meeting Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
Three to five years of relevant experience.
Experience with municipal budgeting.
Grant writing experience.
Strong knowledge of public budgeting and financial management.
Knowledge of governmental accounting and financial auditing principles.
Thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, with an emphasis on governmental accounting.
