Underwriting Support Specialist

Job Description

Job Description Key Responsibilities
  •  Review new and renewal WC submissions against a standard document checklist (e.g., loss runs, ACORD applications, payroll/class code breakdowns, experience mods, prior carrier declarations, NCCI/state rating data).
  •  Identify missing, incomplete, or expired documents and log them as open pending items.
  •  Track outstanding items through resolution, following up with internal partners (sales, service teams) or external sources as directed.
  •  Maintain accurate status notes in the underwriting system/Salesforce so pipeline status is always current.
  •  Flag inconsistencies between submitted documents (e.g., payroll figures that don't match across forms, NAICS/class code mismatches) for underwriter review. Identification only, not judgment calls on acceptability.
  •  Prioritize and triage submission queues by target effective date and aging of open items.
  •  Support SLA/turnaround-time tracking and produce basic status reporting for team leads.
  •  Escalate submissions with unusual complexity, red flags, or non-responsive partners to senior underwriting staff.
  •  Maintain familiarity with standard WC submission requirements across multiple states/jurisdictions.
