Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and energetic Correctional Art Facilitator to join our dynamic team dedicated to promoting mental health, rehabilitation, and personal growth within correctional facilities. In this vital role, you will design and lead engaging art therapy programs tailored to the unique needs of incarcerated individuals. Your efforts will foster self-expression, emotional regulation, and social skills, contributing to positive behavioral change and overall well-being. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact through creative therapeutic interventions in a correctional setting. Duties Develop and implement structured art therapy sessions for individuals and groups within correctional facilities, focusing on emotional expression, coping skills, and rehabilitation. Facilitate art therapy group activities that promote social interaction, teamwork, and personal insight among participants. Assess clients' needs through clinical documentation and tailor art therapy interventions accordingly, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality. Collaborate with mental health professionals, behavioral health teams, and facility staff to integrate art therapy into comprehensive treatment plans. Maintain accurate records of client progress, session notes, and clinical documentation in accordance with medical records standards. Provide client communication that is empathetic, clear, and supportive to foster trust and engagement during therapy sessions. Participate in ongoing training related to behavioral therapy, addiction counseling, mental health counseling, and working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders or disabilities. Experience Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or other neurodevelopmental disorders in clinical or correctional settings. Background in art therapy group facilitation or individual counseling with a focus on mental health and behavioral care. Knowledge of behavioral health principles including trauma-informed care, addiction counseling, dementia care, hospice care, and outpatient mental health services. Familiarity with medical documentation practices such as CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology) for billing purposes. Experience working with children or pediatric populations in therapeutic environments is highly desirable. Strong client communication skills coupled with the ability to adapt therapeutic approaches for diverse populations including those with chronic illnesses or psychiatric conditions. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within HIPAA guidelines while managing sensitive patient information. Join us in transforming lives through creative expression! Pay:
