Position Overview:

The Athletic Trainer will be responsible for the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for our student-athletes. This role will require collaboration with coaches, athletic staff, and medical professionals to ensure the highest standard of health and performance for our athletes. The ideal candidate will be committed to promoting a safe and effective athletic environment while fostering the overall well-being of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

Evaluate athletes' readiness to play; can provide clearance for athletes to return to play if the athlete has not seen a doctor. Once the athlete sees a doctor, a note from a physician clearing the student to play is required. Care for athletic injuries, using physical therapy equipment, or techniques. Conduct an initial assessment of an athlete's injury or illness to provide emergency or continued care and to determine whether they should be referred to physicians for definitive diagnosis and treatment. Assess and report the progress of recovering athletes to coaches or physicians. Perform general administrative tasks, such as keeping records or writing reports. Apply protective or injury preventive devices, such as tape, bandages, or braces, to body parts, such as ankles, fingers, or wrists. Plan or implement comprehensive athletic injury or illness prevention programs. Collaborate with physicians to develop and implement comprehensive rehabilitation programs for athletic injuries. Advise athletes on the proper use of equipment. May travel with athletic teams to be available at sporting events. Coverage of multiple sports with athletes ranging from 13-19 years old. Assist school nurse(s) as needed with medical issues for students. Possible supervision of athletic training student 'intern', Senior year only. Communicate effectively with parents, coaches, and medical professionals regarding athlete health and rehabilitation progress. Educate student-athletes on injury prevention, nutrition, and overall wellness. Stay current with industry trends, techniques, and best practices in sports medicine. Assist with the management of athletic training facilities and equipment.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field. MUST be NATABOC certified. Current New Jersey State Athletic Training License or eligible. MUST have current professional First Aid, CPR/AED certification (American Red Cross or American Heart Association). Strong knowledge of injury assessment, treatment and rehabilitation techniques Must be able to work flexible hours as required including evenings and weekends. Strong communication, interpersonal and decision-making skills.

Other:

A background and fingerprint report will be conducted and submitted to State authorities as required by law for all personnel working within a school environment. Must be willing to undergo Catholic Diocese VIRTUS certification.
