Job Description

WellStar is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to perform high-quality echocardiograms and vascular ultrasound studies for patients across our Georgia care network. In this role, you will acquire and analyze cardiac images, assist cardiologists with diagnostic procedures, and ensure accurate documentation in the EMR. You'll collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, educate patients and families, and prioritize safety, compassion, and cultural sensitivity. Responsibilities Perform transthoracic echocardiograms and related cardiac ultrasound procedures per protocol. Acquire and optimize diagnostic-quality images and Doppler measurements for cardiologist interpretation. Verify patient identity, obtain history, and explain procedures to ensure informed, compassionate care. Document findings accurately in the EMR and maintain complete, timely exam records. Ensure proper operation, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting of ultrasound equipment. Follow infection control, safety, and quality standards in all imaging procedures. Collaborate with cardiologists, nurses, and other team members to coordinate patient care. Assist with stress echo or contrast studies as needed and monitor patient tolerance. Participate in continuing education and maintain required certifications. Support departmental workflow, including scheduling priorities and exam room readiness.
