Toms Rivier NJ Position Overview. We are seeking a Clinical Screener / Admissions Clinician to join our behavioral health team and support individuals seeking treatment for substance use. This role is responsible for conducting clinical screenings and biopsychosocial assessments, determining the appropriate level of care, and coordinating admissions for detox and residential treatment services. The ideal candidate is clinically knowledgeable, compassionate, and able to make sound decisions while supporting individuals during a critical moment when they are seeking help.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive clinical screenings and assessments for individuals seeking substance use treatment Complete clinical screening and biopsychosocial assessments and gather relevant clinical history Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment team to determine appropriate level of care using ASAM criteria Coordinate admissions for medical detox and residential treatment programs Communicate with referral sources, medical staff, and members of the clinical team Document screenings, assessments, and collaborated admission decisions in the EMR Provide support and education to clients and families regarding treatment options Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and clinical documentation requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree (Masters degree preferred) in Social Work, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field Active licensure or certification required (LPC, LAC, LCSW, LSW, LCADC, CADC, or equivalent depending on state requirements) Experience working in substance use treatment, detox, residential, or behavioral health settings Knowledge of ASAM criteria and level of care determinations Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills Excellent communication and documentation abilities Preferred Experience Experience conducting clinical screenings and biopsychosocial assessments Familiarity with withdrawal management needs Experience working in detox or residential programs Bilingual proficiency is a strong asset for this role. Admissions or intake experience in a behavioral health or substance use treatment setting.
