Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Referral Coordinator/Scheduling Coordinator to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will manage patient referrals, coordinate appointments, and ensure seamless communication between patients, providers, and insurance companies. Your expertise will help optimize patient care delivery, streamline scheduling processes, and uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and compliance. Responsibilities Manage incoming referral requests by verifying insurance coverage, obtaining necessary authorizations, and ensuring all documentation complies with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies Schedule patient appointments accurately across multiple providers and departments using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office tools Communicate effectively with patients regarding appointment details, pre-visit instructions, and follow-up needs to enhance patient experience and satisfaction Coordinate with healthcare providers to confirm appointment availability, reschedule as needed, and maintain organized scheduling logs Verify insurance benefits, perform insurance prior authorization processes, and ensure all medical records are properly documented in the EHR system Assist with medical coding tasks including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding to support billing accuracy and compliance with managed care policies Maintain strict adherence to clinical confidentiality policies while managing sensitive medical records and electronic health information Experience Prior medical office experience with a strong understanding of health insurance policies, managed care processes, and medical billing procedures Proficiency in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) or Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems for scheduling and documentation purposes Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and insurance verification processes Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with patients, providers, and insurance representatives Experience handling medical records management while maintaining compliance with confidentiality standards Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare setting Join our team to make a meaningful difference in patient care through efficient scheduling, accurate referral processing, and compassionate service.
