Oversees point of care operations at multiple System facilities under the direction of senior laboratory management. Participates in interdisciplinary teams internal and external to the department, developing effective relationships with other UH departments. What You Will Do Oversees System Laboratory Point of Care (POC) program, and supervises activities of Coordinator, Laboratory, Point of Care personnel Collaborates with the Manager, Laboratory (or other appropriate leader) at each facility where POC testing occurs, ensuring local needs and expectations are met. Oversees laboratory compliance with all regulatory agencies by established standards Provides technical support to the laboratory Monitors compliance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures Accurately, timely and efficiently performs testing in accordance with regulatory guidelines Monitors quality assurance and established laboratory process Ensures the effective and efficient allocation of resources Oversees personnel by providing consistent constructive and positive feedback. Responsible for competency assessment of personnel in assigned area Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patients/customers/coworkers Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation. Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace. Education Bachelor's Degree biological science, chemical science or medical technology (Required) Work Experience 5+ years experience in a highly complex medical laboratory. Thorough knowledge of testing procedures and quality standards. (Required) and 1+ years Previous experience as supervisor or technical coordinator/lead (Preferred) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Working knowledge of standard laboratory policies and procedures, safety practices, regulatory requirements, and laboratory equipment and instrumentation. ( proficiency) Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel applications ( proficiency) Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems and problem solving skills ( proficiency) Ability to work effectively within role independently and with other team members ( proficiency) Ability to read, write and effectively communicate ( proficiency) Ability to effectively evaluate and coach subordinates to improve job performance and departmental cooperation.
