Overview Join our dynamic dental team as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA), where your expertise will directly enhance patient care and streamline clinical operations. In this vital role, you will assist dentists with a variety of advanced procedures, manage dental instruments and equipment, and ensure a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for our patients. Your skills in dental assisting combined with your knowledge of clinical procedures will help us deliver top-tier dental services while maintaining strict adherence to infection control and confidentiality policies. Duties Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection prevention management protocols. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including dental X-ray procedures and 3D scans, ensuring accurate medical imaging for diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Open Dental, or similar software while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for clinical confidentiality policies. Perform vital signs assessments and medical documentation to support comprehensive patient care and medical records accuracy. Educate patients on oral health care practices, post-treatment instructions, and procedural expectations to promote optimal outcomes. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment by adhering to dental sterilization procedures and infection control standards throughout all patient interactions. Qualifications Certified Expanded Functions Dental Assistant with current licensure or certification as required by state law. Proven experience in general dentistry with a strong background in chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and infection prevention management. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and the use of dental equipment including X-ray machines, intraoral cameras, and 3D scanners. Familiarity with dental practice management software Open Dental for scheduling, billing, and patient management. Strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control practices including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages while demonstrating professionalism in handling sensitive medical documentation. $24.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 32.0 per week
