Dental Assistant•Pediatric Practice | Niceville, FL $18.00•$24.00 per hour | Full-Time | No Weekends Panhandle Pediatric Dentistry is a locally owned and operated pediatric dental practice — not a corporate dental group — and we are BUSY. We are looking for a Dental Assistant who enjoys a high-energy clinical environment, can stay on their toes, think ahead, and contribute to a team that moves quickly throughout the day. Panhandle Pediatric Dentistry is looking for a Dental Assistant with either recent hands-on dental assisting experience OR recent formal dental assisting education/training to join our Niceville team. This is a very busy pediatric dental practice with high expectations for patient care, teamwork, organization, and efficiency. We need someone who can think ahead, move with purpose, stay organized, and adjust quickly as the day changes. A strong Dental Assistant on this team does not simply wait to be told what to do next. You are paying attention to the schedule, anticipating the provider's needs, preparing for what is coming, helping your teammates when needed, and keeping patient care moving without sacrificing accuracy or professionalism. This Role You:
Stay alert, engaged, and ready for what comes next Think ahead and anticipate the needs of the provider and clinical team Move efficiently in a high-volume clinical environment Shift priorities without becoming overwhelmed or losing attention to detail Notice what needs to be done and take initiative Communicate clearly and professionally with providers, teammates, children, and parents Take ownership of your responsibilities Are dependable, punctual, and prepared to work Receive feedback well and apply it Understand that excellent patient care and efficient clinical operations go hand in hand What You'll Do Assist providers using four-handed dentistry techniques Prepare and break down treatment rooms efficiently Take and process dental radiographs in accordance with Florida requirements Maintain sterilization and infection-control standards Support pediatric patients and parents throughout treatment Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation Assist with inventory, lab cases, supplies, and daily clinical organization Anticipate provider needs and prepare for upcoming procedures Help maintain efficient patient flow throughout the day Work collaboratively with the clinical team to keep the schedule moving Help create a positive, professional experience for every child and family Qualifications Candidates must have one of the following: Recent, relevant hands-on dental assisting experience; OR Recent completion of a formal dental assisting education or training program This position is not intended for candidates without dental assisting experience or formal dental assisting training.
Candidates should also have:
A solid foundation in dental terminology, instruments, procedures, sterilization, infection control, and clinical workflow Strong organizational and communication skills The ability to learn quickly and retain information The ability to work efficiently while maintaining accuracy A proactive, team-oriented approach Dependability and consistent punctuality The ability to remain calm and professional in a very busy clinical environment A willingness to receive feedback and continue developing clinical skills Preferred, But Not Required Pediatric dental assisting experience Florida Radiography Certification EFDA Certification Digital imaging experience Experience working in a high-volume dental environment Radiology training may be available for the right candidate. EFDA support may also be available after the training period. Recent dental assisting program graduates are encouraged to apply if they have a strong clinical foundation, are ready to learn, and are prepared to work in a high-volume pediatric dental environment. PM Friday:
8:00 AM•2:00 PM No weekends Sedation days occur approximately 1-2 times per month and require early arrival, typically between 5:30 AM and 6:00 AM .
