Job Description
Public Health Dental Assistant and Receptionist (Full Time) - Duluth, MN, Vibrant New Clinic and Office at 25 W. Superior Street Children's Dental Services (CDS) is a dynamic, community-based nonprofit improving oral health for children and families with low incomes through accessible, culturally tailored care. Founded in 1919, CDS serves one of Minnesota's most diverse communities and provides an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public health, healthcare administration, and community engagement.
Position Overview:
This is a great role for recent college graduates interested in public health, nonprofit work, or healthcare. The Public Health Dental Assistant and Receptionist is often the first point of contact for our patients and families, playing an essential role in ensuring they receive compassionate, efficient, and quality service.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage front desk operations in a fast-paced clinical setting—answering phones, greeting patients, scheduling and confirming appointments, and verifying insurance.
Provide chairside assistance to dental providers (training included)
Provide exceptional customer service to patients and families both in person and over the phone.
Assist with basic administrative tasks and clinic organization.
Work collaboratively with a diverse, mission-driven team.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree—especially in Public Health, Health Sciences, Communications, or related fields.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and communication/interpersonal skills.
Competency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Typing speed of 40 wpm minimum.
Ability to multitask and stay calm in a fast-paced environment.
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding HIPAA standards.
Knowledge of medical assistance programs a plus.
Compensation & Benefits:
$21-$25/hour, depending on qualifications.
Full-time (40 hours/week) with comprehensive benefits.
