Job Description

We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Dental Sterilization Technician to join our team at Finch Oral & Facial Surgery . This role is essential to maintaining a safe, efficient, and compliant surgical environment. In addition to sterilization responsibilities, this position includes light dental assistant support to help maintain smooth clinical flow. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and takes pride in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. This position is located in-office and is not available for remote work. Key Responsibilities Sterilization & Infection Control Clean, disinfect, package, and sterilize dental and surgical instruments according to OSHA, CDC, and infection control guidelines. Operate and monitor sterilization equipment, including ultrasonic cleaners and autoclaves. Perform biological spore testing and maintain accurate sterilization logs. Inspect instruments for cleanliness, function, and integrity; remove damaged instruments from circulation. Ensure proper storage of sterile instruments and supplies. Operatory & Equipment Support Prepare treatment rooms before procedures and break down rooms afterward. Disinfect operatories and clinical areas according to office protocols. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sterilization area. Report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly. Light Dental Assistant Duties Turn over operatories between patients. Seat patients and ensure they are comfortable. Take basic vital signs as directed. Assist with room setup and supply restocking. Provide post-operative packets and review basic instructions as directed by the clinical team. Escort patients and assist with non-clinical patient flow tasks as needed. Inventory & Supply Management Monitor levels of instruments, cassettes, PPE, and sterilization supplies. Assist with ordering and stocking clinical and sterilization supplies. Ensure proper rotation and storage of supplies. Team Support Work closely with clinical staff to ensure instruments and rooms are ready for scheduled procedures. Assist with non-chairside clinical tasks to support efficient patient flow. Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment. Compliance & Safety Adhere strictly to HIPAA, OSHA, and office safety policies. Stay current with infection control standards and best practices. Participate in required trainings and certifications. Qualifications Education & Certifications High school diploma or equivalent (required). Infection control or sterilization training (preferred; willing to train the right candidate). Dental assisting experience or training (preferred but not required). Current CPR/BLS certification (preferred or willingness to obtain). Experience Previous experience in dental, medical, or surgical sterilization (preferred but not required). Experience in an oral surgery or specialty dental practice is a plus. Skills & Competencies Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and cleanliness. Ability to follow protocols and maintain accurate documentation. Friendly, professional demeanor with patients. Dependable, organized, and efficient in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and remain standing for extended periods of up to eight hours. Additionally, the ability to sit, stand, reach, and kneel for prolonged durations is required. Why Join Us?
