Category Dental Position Type PRN Overview NaphCare is hiring a Dentist to join our team of medical professionals in the St. Lucie County Jail in Fort Pierce, Florida. As a Correctional Dentist, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide dental care to the incarcerated individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment, where security is top priority and the days are never dull, you will have a variety of duties to keep you engaged. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical and dental needs. Responsibilities The Dentist is responsible for ensuring quality dental care is provided to protect the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Responsibilities may include and not be limited to: Diagnosing, treating, and providing preventative care for patients\nCreating treatment plans and performing dental procedures, such as extractions and restorations\nEducating patients on proper oral hygiene practices\nMaintaining accurate and detailed patient dental records\nPerform all dental assessments, radiographic exams, and dental treatment, to include emergency treatment such as oral surgery, restorative dentistry and periodontal therapy within the scope of general dentistry\nFormulate a working diagnosis, develop and implement a treatment plan and evaluate/modify therapeutic regimens to promote positive patient outcomes\nEvaluate all patients returning from offsite dental visits\nParticipate in training and orientation of healthcare staff\nProvide oral hygiene education and discharge instructions to all patients seen\nSupervise and coach dental assistant\nEnsure sterilization and disinfection of equipment\nCollaborating on with other medical professionals to ensure staff are responsive to patients' oral health needs Qualifications Experience / Requirements / Qualifications Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD)\nValid dental license in Florida\nMust possess an active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association required)\nCurrent DEA registration\nStrong leadership, communication, and organizational skills\nTechnical skills in providing a full range of dental services\nKnowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards\nAble to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information\nDisplay integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements\nMust pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening

Physical Capabilities:

Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
