The Department ofPaediatric Dentistry at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), Faculty ofDentistry, University of Toronto, isinviting applications for the position ofDentist-in-Chief. This is a full-time role for an academic paediatric dentist andleader inpaediatric oral health. The effective dateof this appointment is June 2027 but can be negotiated. PrimaryDescription Responsibilitiesinclude full clinical practice, research, and education, and administrativeresponsibilities as required by aDepartment Chief. Evidence of excellence inteaching and research is required. This role reports directly to the Chief ofPeri-OperativeServices. AdditionalDescription The successfulcandidate should be a senior academic with an internationalreputation who canprovide effective and collaborative leadership and vision at the hospital,provincial, national and international levels.

The candidate must be eligiblefor appointment at the rank of Associate Professor at the University of Torontoand be eligible forcertification with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons ofOntario. Candidates must obtain an appropriate Visa, if applicable. Weareseeking an individual whose leadership qualifications include managementproficiency, dispute resolution, communications expertise,mentoringcapabilities, the ability to engender trust, function collaboratively with allmanner of clinical teams and administration.

Additionally, the successfulcandidate will have a long-term vision for the Department which integrates withthe mission of Peri-OperativeServices, the Hospital and the University ofToronto. Salary will be inthe range of $200,000 to $400,000 for 40 hours per week,commensurate withqualifications and experience, and which will be supplemented by clinicalbilling activity. Benefits include Medical,Dental, Life, Group Insurance,Pension, Vision. A per annum stipend, in recognition of the administrativeleadership responsibilitiesassociated with the Department Chief role, will beprovided. Support for relocation expenses will be offered. The position has apotentialduration of two terms of five years each. DepartmentDescription The Department ofPaediatric Dentistry at TheHospital for Sick Children consist of 18 dentalsurgeons, orthodontists and paediatric dentists, provides dental care forchildren andadolescents under 18 years whose treatment is best managed in amultidisciplinary hospital environment. It isintegral to the Ontario CleftLip and Palate Craniofacial Dental program and isa major clinical training and research centre for the University of TorontoGraduatePaediatric Dentistry program. The Department also provides training tohospital staff, community dentists, physicians and families throughaffiliationwith the University of Toronto.
